Gonna attempt to make a single hauler out of a apache popup camper frame planned on putting another 5 lug trailer axle under it and stiffining the frame a good bit has anyone done this or is there something im missing thats gonna bite me in the ass after i get half way through making this thing? any help is appreciated... thanks Berry:beer:

I know it sounds crazy but gonna try and make to haul a zj thats stripped down just wanting yall opinions on the matter before i get further into the adventure!

Come on fella's i know yall got some input good or bad ill take it really...

give it some time, its only been 30 mins.

i'd say go to scrap yard and get some 4-6" channel 2 pcs about 16 ft long. then some 3" channel for the center braces, add a tounge and axles and lights. good to go.

first off, give it some time
second, give us some details. Most of us don't know what that type camper frame looks like.
third you want to put another axles under it and haul a stripped down ZJ, How stripped down? At best, the trailer will carry 3500 pounds, but that depends a lot on the frame. A single axle that needs to be at least 12 foot long maybe longer to haul a ZJ, is asking a bit much.

I apologize for not being here when you wrote this so I could respond more promptly

I have never seen a pop up that had heavy enough frame rails to make a car hauler. IMO i would scrap the trailer and use the money to buy a heavier axle to start with. The spings, hangers and sheetmetal frame rails aren't heavy enough to handle the weight of a ZJ.....

I've built a few smaller trailers. Same conclusion with every one of them:

Would have been cheaper to just buy one already built.

Ok sorry for my impatients lol trying to get on the trails no wheeling this year cause no trailer!!! sucks... Well its now going to be a scrap and mower hauler im gonna agree its not that heavy duty its about 10ft long but i can flex it pretty easy standing on it! Thanks for input saved me some headache im sure!
