DIY XJ alignment

I'm sure at some point this has been a topic of discussion. So excuse my post if this is redundant.

I have a 1998 XJ with a 4 1/2 inch lift on 33 inch tires.

Like most of you I go wheeling as often as I can. If my alignment is correct before I entered the forest it will most certainly be off somewhat by the time I leave. My question is, what is the easiest and most direct method to set my alignment back to where it should be without taking it to an alignment shop?

I have a mechanical background and you understand the way things work but if someone has an exact measurement that will get me where I need to be that will be most helpful!

Not to sound harsh but if you have a mechanical background then you have no idea what is going on with the steering. This isn't set up like a 1990 toyota camry. I thrashed around URE for three years on stock flimsy ass cherokee xj steering and the alignment doesn't get knocked out. Unless you are stripping the threads on the tie rod adjuster or turning the tie rod into and S shape then sure your alignment is trashed.

Here is something to hold you over Alignment

But for sake of an investment, upgrade steering to something more solid and align it once and don't worry about it for a few years at a time. There are plenty of bolt in options if that appeals to you.

1/2" Heavy Duty Over the Knuckle Steering XJ/TJ/ZJ - Iron Rock Off Road

CavFab Jeep CrossOver Steering (XJ/TJ/ZJ/MJ)

just to name a few

Don't waste your money on any of that shit. Just get the ZJ tie rod (assuming you have the tiny stock one) and align it with a tape measure. Or call @Jody Treadway and have him make you one.

If you already have the ZJ tie rod and you're still having to align it after every trip, then you're doing something wrong.

Sure it's an alignment issue?? Hell im not sure what the actual issue is but zj tie rod like ^ said is good start! I'd bet it's tire related unless you've had an alignment multiple times to say it's off...?

This is what I did, Zj- V8 tie rod does the trick.

$10 at junkyard pick and pull get new moog tre, and roll on!

I like to use a laser level and two evenly spaced targets and a tape measure. I go off the rotors since wheels can be warped. (Jackstand front at ride height, pull wheels, reinstall lugs to hold rotors tight to hub. Doesn't work on IFS. Can use a spacer for the level off the wheel instead.)
