I have experienced some stuff in the past that have really creeped me out. My wifes' Aunt has had some really bad things happen in her house, but me personally, I have never witnessed anything that was on the verge of paranormal, nor do I want to. I was thinking about it the other day and we just moved into a house and always wondered if anything bad has happened there but have yet to see or hear anything. We watched "The Conjuring" about 2 weeks ago and my wifes Aunt told me that by watching stuff like that, I could be inviting stuff into my house.

You guys beleive in that stuff or had any strange happenings?

I believe and have experienced it. I posted about it here before, if I can find it I'll copy and paste it because I'm too lazy to retype it.

I do not watch movies like that for that reason. The one we dealt with was a friendly one, which was ok but still scary. I do not want to give any spirits any ideas, so I stay far away from movies like that.

do i believe in ghosts?, yes. do i believe that watching a movie invites them in?, no.

i have seen things and heard things that can't be explained. we lived in a house a few years ago that we used to see a ghost all the time. it wasn't just me, there were about 5 different people who all claimed to have seen it, all describing the same thing. our dog used to awaken from a dead sleep, attacking it.

Found it, copy and pasted. This is the house we moved out of a few months back.

OK, at the risk of sounding like a complete crazy.....here it is. I don't share this very often because it is weird and I do sound crazy.

We moved in to our house about 8 years ago. About 7 years ago I started hearing/seeing things in the house. It began with seeing things. Never could make out what it was, but it was some kind of white flowing aparition that would catch my eye but never could get a good look at it. It would move down the hallway or across the doorway of the dining room while I was looking. Freaked me out but I just chalked it up to reflections off the road behind the house. Then it started calling my name. The first time I was standing in the dining room and heard a woman's voice behind me yell out "Bryan!" so I turned around thinking it was my wife. It wasn't. The next time I was in the living room and heard it coming in from the dining room, another woman's voice calling my name. Again I assumed it was my wife so I figured she has just gotten home and I walked over to the front door just in time to see her driving down the road and pulling into the driveway. Fucking weird, that really made me wonder if my head was messed up. The next time I was talking to a buddy on the phone upstairs and heard a voice calling me from downstairs. Again thought it was my wife and told my buddy to hold on and yelled out "hold on, on the phone with Chris!" and kept talking. Well, about 15 minutes later my wife got home from work.

I laughed about it and figured hey, if this ghost just floats around nicely calling out my name, whatever. No problem. Then one night I was down working in the garage and I heard a scream. Like a blood curtling, someone just died and I found the body type scream. Our son was about a year and a half years old at that point and was sleeping in bed so I thought my wife found him dead. I tore upstairs and she was just sitting there reading a book. She said I was completely white and looked more terrified than she has ever seen me.

I will also add that my son had never slept a complete night up to this point. Every night, at least twice a night he would wake up screaming and we would have to go in there and get him back to bed. Every night, without fail.

Well, my wife was telling a friend at work what happened and she mentioned that a lady that worked there helped out with ghost issues. I know you are thinking  but these are educated professionals and she didn't go around advertising this. Kind of like the movie Hitch, only those who need to know knew.

She comes over and does her thing, tells the ghost that it is time to go with God, etc. I all of a sudden feel like I am getting a big bear hug, something is squeezing me from behind and then all of a sudden it is gone. I looked up and said "I think it is gone!" and immediately we heard my son yell out from upstairs. We ran up there and he was awake so we laid him back down.

He slept through the night that night and has almost every night since, and that was like 4 years ago. No more voices, no more seeing things.

So yeah, you may think I am crazy, but that is my story and I have a sane witness.

Yep. Heard and actually smelled things that weren't explainable. Yes, smelled. The house we lived in during my high school years had a spot in the master bedroom that on occasion had a rotten garbage smell. you could stand in this one spot and smell it. take one step in any direction and not smell it. step back and you could smell it. happened several times, but not all the time.

Same house, you'd be sitting downstairs and hear a door slam, or something crash like a chandelier, but you could never find anything out of place and all doors were open with door wedges under them.

I've heard things at my friends house that didn't make any sense to me, but I can't 100% put it on paranormal activity. But they have had many things from voices, to doors rapidly swinging back and forth. My Wife saw that one. she got the hell out of the house when she saw it. I'm not talking about swaying with the wind. I'm talking about a 100 year old solid oak door that weights probably 50 lbs. swinging back and forth as fast you a grown man can swing it without ripping the door handle off. And my buddy followed a voice down the hall and down the stairs thinking it was his kid back talking him. He went after it telling his kid to "get back here, I'm talking to you!!" Only to find his kid downstairs on the couch playing on the laptop.

But I sure as hell don't think watching movies invites anything in.

I believe and have experienced it… I bought my grandparents house after my grandmother passed… I have smelled my grandmom's cooking and the tuberose she used to dip, years after I bought it not just a couple months after. Also, was setting on the bed ( the bedroom furniture was my grandparents) and felt someone set down beside me.. Have a picture with a ghostly light streak, some one say just the way the light was when picture was taken. I tend to believe it was her checking in on me.

I believe that if you want to see ghosts, your mind will make you think your seeing/hearing ghosts. Also we all know that many things in this world can cause hallucinations and play with a persons sensory perspective(not saying ya'll are all high as a kite :flipoff2:). Do I believe that ghosts or spirits exist, no, I believe that dead is dead but the living human mind is powerful.

Totally believe... I have also both seen, smelled and heard things. I don't think that watching movies invites spirits, but just makes your mind more conscious.

My experiences have been very mild.
I did however, when I was younger, I did somehow meet my Great Grandmother.... I remember sitting in my grandmother house on the floor watching TV. The front door bell rang and my grandmother got up to answer it and it was my great grandmother...they talked for a bit, she gave my grandmother something and she left....I remember seeing her and I said something to my mom one day. "how come we never get to see grandma Faye's mom? She told me that she died before I was born. I had never seena picture of her or ever heard anything about her. I told my mom that I had seen her and I described her to my mom. I told her that she was wearing a long blue dress, big red glasses, and a pearl necklace. She then went a grabbed a photo album and asked me to go through it and find the lady I saw...I flipped through and found the lady and I found a picture of my great grandmother wearing a blue dress, red glasses, and a pearl necklace......and her name was Pearl.....She died in 1987. I was born in 1988. My mom was freaked out and couldn't believe it....I had never seen that photo album before and never met Pearl.....till this day, even typing this...I cannot figure it out.....

the wierdest thing is to be actually grabbed around the wrist. The cold feeling of fingers passing through flesh and bone is unnerving yet I didn't freak out about it. This happened in a 2 room sharecropper's shack. No electricity,no furniture, broad daylight. I spent that night sleeping on the floor (with other folks there...our camp of instruction) but didn't see, hear,or experience anything else that time.

I believe in hallucinations, illusions, and false correlations.

On a solo trip along the AT, I stopped for lunch at the Wapiti shelter, not long after the double murder there in 1981. I had not heard of the murders yet. I was there for about five or ten minutes, just long enough to get lunch stuff out, and got a real bad case of the creeps. As in I was physically trembling (not from cold/hunger/fatigue) and could not pack up and get out of there fast enough. It was like I could feel the evil that had been there. It wasn't until a couple of days later I ran into someone that told me of the recent murders there, after I had mentioned my experience.

While I don't believe in ghosts in the stereotypical sense of the word, I do believe that we are spiritual (our souls) and that there are spirits (angels/demons) that are actively involved in our affairs. That isn't to validate that 'the devil made me do it' but I do think that we can be influenced by the spiritual realm even if we deny it.

and what does your Grandmother say about the account? did she talk to her at the door that day?
Well, I don't know what they talked about and Its like I don't remember the day I actually "saw" her. It was like, Someone talked about her at some point and then I remembed the incident. And also, during this time, My grandfather had been sick and Im not even sure that my grandmother even knew about it.

I'm on the fence, I'll get cold-chills & have eerie feelings, but that's it; never saw anything. Definitely don't believe movies invite them in, but scary movies aren't my cup of tea either.

A friend swears up & down his parents house is haunted. You'll hear people walking down the hall upstairs with nobody else there. As a kid, he saw his door open one night & close with nobody there, then felt someone pushing down on his chest. His dad used to keep change in an old mouthwash bottle, someone tossed it in the trash after he'd passed and the next day it was back on the dresser.

I have always wanted to go and set up a camera at a local cemetary and leave it recording all night and see if anything happens....I just wouldn't do it in my own house......

I wouldn't dispute any of your claims, but I just don't really believe.

Perhaps watching disturbing movies invites the ghosts into your mind, which allows your mind to play tricks on you, but I think thats otherwise a total load of crap.

Really though, I watched "A Haunted House" the other day, and one scene really showed everyones real fear of ghosts brought to life.

Strange happenings. That could be anything outside of normal everyday occurrences.
The difference is how our minds interpret what we see.

I do not believe in ghosts, ufos, aliens, bigfoot, Nessie, Chessie, Champy .... etc , etc , etc.
I do believe in what the Bible calls "powers and principalities of the air".
Demons , Satans minions, whatever you want to call them.

Most of the time it's just people minds interpreting "strange occurances" as the would want it to, or just trying to correlate something and missing it. The brain isn't perfect.

I grew up in the woods. I've been to places that were"haunted" and I have experienced strange occurrences I can not explain.

But it wasn't the aforementioned list of ne'er do wells.

I stated earlier that I do believe in spirits and things happening. I never did until my grandmother passed. My dad bought her house. There were times you would hear her rocking chair rocking and I would be the only one there. You could sometimes smell her scent in the kitchen as well. That is small in comparison to after my first husband passed away. For those of you who do not know me I am now Chris Ellis' s (novacayne75) wife. One night while laying bed, we had some candles light themselves. Needless to say they were out of the house the next day and I got new ones. Also during that same time frame we awoke to the covers on the bed being completely rearranged but like it had been made that way. Then I was at lunch one day, sitting in my jeep eating and my rear passenger window rolled itself down. I totally freaked out and rolled it up as quickly as possible. I always tried to come up with reasons these things occurred, like my imagination. Having said that I have not experienced any more activity.
