I just bought a 1995 Land Rover in SC and I live in NC. I looked at the title and I don't see a place for a notary to sign and stamp. Do you just need a bill of sale for SC..

no notary in sc
I know you need a BO to get a NC vehicle to SC not sure about the oposite

yes title, no notary, no BOS.

On another note you have been trying to sell your 4runner, which was said to be your DD that you could not afford to fix properly. So instead you bought a luxury import SUV that gets terrible gas mileage, and parts are very expensive for, not to mention that same excact land rover motor is known to have head gasket/head issues. You just put yourself in the same exact situation you were in with a much more costly vehicle. Not to mention those are one of the most difficult vehicles to sell and resale on them are not good. I got to tell you that was not a good idea. Sorry if you think i am bieng a jerk, but life is a learning expierence and you might get taught a very hard lesson. My advice is sell it quickly.

I sold 2 4runners, boat,RC car and it only has 112,000 miles and alread had the head gasket done on a recall. 1 owner and only paid 3,700.00 for it. My buddy has had one since 94 and never had a problem with his and said he would never sell his. I may get lucky and mabe not, but like you said live and learn. I called on 5 diff. ones that had alot more miles and they all sold in a few days, so someone must be buying them. Every truck has problems and lots have recalls even brand new ones. I think I got a great deal and its alot better than what I had and safer. Its not that bad on gas, drove it back from rock hill sc to Fayetteville and used only 1/4 tank of gas and my 4runner was alot worse. I like it and the wife is happy and over seas land rover rules , just my 2 cent.. Thanks for the info thow..:driver:

being the proud owner of a land rover discovery, i have to agree with Cperry. I'm currently throwing every spare cent i have to get my self out of the hole im in with the land rover loan so i can sell it and buy something more reasonable.

and yes, there are people buying land rovers left and right....they are called drug dealers, lol. You can buy a "luxory" vehicle for dirt cheap which makes appealing to those on the other side of the rail road tracks.

I wish you luck on your new disco. but start deciding what vehicle you want next.

Still what I paid and don't have a lean on it so I can put some money in it later, just not for a few months. I plan on keeping it and I have a friend who knows how to work on them and I can learn. I always like yotas and jeeps. But they can brake you to and 3.0 v6 is juck..

i guess you haven't really priced parts and repairs yet. rovers aren't even in the same ballpark as toyotas/jeeps.

Anything can break you in the automotive world, just some faster than others, as you will probably find out. Just out of curiosity, how many miles were on the 3.0 before it died?

To get tags for it you'll need the title (not notorized if from SC) and probably a bill of sale. I just did this with my 4runner.

New Jeep engine plus professional installation $2500? (someone help me, not sure last time I paid shop labor for anyhting)

New rover engine minus labor $4500

What he said....and I wish I knew you wanted one, $2000 would have bought a 96 with 144k, very clean,OME lift, all those ladders and shit, I passed on it out of being scared as hell to sell it to someone I knew. But it did bring 2k at the auction.

disco's are cool if you like space shuttle like comfort and boeing 747 controls. Not to mention, dont even try to fit anyone over 150 lbs in the rear passenger doors without plenty of axle grease.

Some one mention repair costs, heres a quote from Dweb during a discussion on whether to buy an 04 or an older one:

"With any Land Rover you buy, the older you get the more prone to repairs it will be. It could very well be that if you buy either the 98-99 D1 or 99 D2, you'll spend enough in repairs to buy the 04...its a real possibility."

if this is your first rover Here are some tips.

you should prepare yourself to meet the three amigos. quirky little fellows. quite mischevious at times.

Google the words "rave CD" your gonna need one.

cruise control is that button with the little skate board doin a rail grind. ( go on, look at the dash, you'll see what i mean.)

Your rear door locks probably dont work, if they do, it wont be long. Theres an adjustment to the solenoid.

Your exhaust valves are probably gonna start sticking, sludge is built up there and needs to be cleaned out. watch for misfires.

Speakin of Dweb, thats rover slang for www.discoweb.org, surf over there and lurk for a while. Dont ask stupid newbie questions. Once you've got the hang of the rover talk head over to www.pirate4x4.coms land rover section. DO NOT POST THERE RIGHT AWAY. it takes a thick skin to run with that crowd.

The rover crowd isnt your average 4 wheeling community. Youve really gotta be on top of your game cause they are the kinda people who eat their own young when it comes to new members.

Once youve dont all this and youre still into the landy thing, give these guys a shout

Local NC group of rover owners. The clubs going through a revamp and i think alot of trail weekends are part of the new plan.

One last piece of advice..dont shop for tires bigger than 31s, maybe 32s. it takes too much to get anything bigger to work safely, and the rover purists will excommunicate you because real trucks have small tires!

Oh yeah.....

almost forgot!

have you popped the hood yet? tried finding the transmission dip stick?

heres a hint......buy a fluid pump.

Well with 112,000 on it know and has a soild axle up front . My buddy has a 94 with 256,000 same motor and no major issuse, if I keep it up and service well and I sould get the same miles like him. It would take me 5 years to get up to 256,000. I have no payment and could just set aside alittle money everymonth and rebuild it later. From what I hear they are great 4x4, not like a jeep or yota but still No more IFS crap..I tell you that thing has power and rides nice and later on down the road I could go wild with it and us it as my trail ride. They say the bigest thing is to not over heat it.

i wouldnt rebuild the engine. i would buy a chevy 350 or ford 351w and the corresponding drive train.

i had a 97 had for about 4 months- exhuast manifold cracked-used $160, Ignition locked up- $500 they don't sell tumbelers, spark plug wires needed to be replaced $99 dollars- takes premium- I sold it shortly there after- happiest day of my life. As the guy was leaving with a big smile on his face b/c he got such a good deal( as i am sure you were and i was when i bought mine) he said is there anything else i should know............... and i said ya it takes premium his head dropped. thats $760 in just parts in 4 months hell i could have been making a pymt on a new tacoma for that kinda of cash, not tho mention the agrevation of repairing myself.

the skateboard rail slide comment was priceless

X2!

So after the worst engine Toyota makes made it to 223,000 miles, you think it's a POS? Wow, I'd have dropped a junkyard one in it and kept on :driver:.
