Dodge 2500 Rear Axle Wheel fell off

OK this if not my truck and info came from lady not 100% sure whats happened but basically was told rear wheel fell off or axle is came out. Anyway rear end is bad. Truck is 96 2500 excab with cummings 230K miles guessing. They have already replaced the truck and wondering how much a replacement axle would cost? Considering buying it from them or if someone is interested here mention it and I will give you there contact info. It is 4x4. I will get a price today but would not be surprised if its well more than the truck is worth. This is not a For Sale add trucks not mine and I am not sure if they plan to fix it but I really dont think so. Info on possible fixes welcome but I think it would be easyer just to buy a newer axle and replacing it myself. Is family of mine.
 
either way, loose hardware can fail. no surprise there.

if it's the axle shaft, no big deal at all. If it's the wheel that came off, you might need a new brake drum.

Either way, it doesn't sound like a big damn deal to me either way,

And there's no fawking "G" in Cummins.
 
It's either a Dana 70 or 80 if you're not in a hurry and you know where to look you could probably find one for a couple hundred bucks. If the owner is interested in getting rid of it PM me a price and I might be interested.
