I have an 01 2500 CTD and the tranny is fine now. I have it's a lot cheaper to do some mods to it now rather than when it's slipping. Planning to add a geoerend TC and valve body. I'm not really set on the brand but people on the cummins seem to think highly of them. Besides an obvious cooler and guages, what would be good to replace while the tranny is out. I have school with a guy who broke his back wroking for the dodge place in wilks. He is going to help with the tranny work.

How much power do you think you will be shooting for?

I had a Goerend single disk TC and valve body on a fresh rebuild before I did the 5spd swap in my dually. It was great, its in my dads stock '96 2500 now. He loves it, a huge improvement even without any power mods.

Its supposed to be good for around 400HP. If I ever have an automatic Dodge diesel again, I'd for sure go with the Goerend parts again.

There are a lot of good tranny builders out there, but Goerend is what I will be getting for my '95 CTD. Check the rear main seal on the CTD when the tranny is out and replace if need be.

only mods to the truck will be the chip intake and straight pipe...It has plenty of power so
Goerend tripple disc TC with limited life time warranty 1300
Valvebody is 500 and some change.
I'm thinking with a tranny cooler and deep pan I should be able to tow my 5klb truck without problems.

Sounds like a good setup Jeff. Georend has a great reputation. A torque converter and a good valve body is all you should need at the power level you are at.

Yea. I have seen other guys on the cummins forum with way more power running the same tranny set up with no problems. I really like my truck so far. I can't wait to get swampy behind it and head up to mtn city. All thats stopping my right now is new wheels for the toyota.

I just got goerend's triple disc billet, valve body, and billet apply lever. Same as you I had read a TON of people only recommending them and after talking to Dave decided that was where I should get my parts.

Lifetime warranty on the converter is awesome, Dave said even if I broke an input shaft and took out the converter just ship it to him and he'd send a new one. That's some great customer service and the peace of mind to know that their warranty is backed fully by them.

Now to finish getting the tranny built!

Thanks for the input man. Does your transmission shift alot harder now? Maybe change back and forth between gears less?

anyone else?
