Dodge Exo

I have had a Milemarker 12,000lb winch on the front bumper for several years and it has not failed me. In fact it has pulled me and several other people out of all kinds of situations. I also have a Ramsey Pro 8000 mounted on the rear that I won at a Jeep Jamboree in '94 that is pretty worn out. I had the opportunity to get a working Warn M12,000 for a fair deal, but it's mounted different and drove some changes on the front bumper... I will rebuild the winch over the winter, but I wanted to use it at the Fall Crawl. The MM12k will get moved to the back tomorrow and the Ramsey will go to trailer duty.

The large Warn winches are beasts... I didn't realize until I picked it up. I was actually worried that it wouldn't fit-and it didn't until I modified the winch plate and got rid of the AC condensor (I don't use AC anyway). The pics are of the MM12k vs the Warn 12k.

Original winch mount with bottom mount Milemarker winch. This was the winch plate from an old Ramsey grillguard/winch mount.

Welded on a 1/2" plate over the front 1/4" plate that held the fairlead. Added the crossbar at the top and braced with 1/4" gussetts.

The winch is a close fit now, but it's snug and working. I had to rewire my 12voltguy.com in cab winch switch as well.

man this is a bad dodge. i seen you up at the toy run at callentee this year.

Does your truck or tranny run hot very often?

It doesn't... if you are referring to the mud in the radiator, that was behind the AC condensor that I just removed. I will wash it out, but it has been there since some mud bogs I ran about 3 years ago (I did win $500).

I also have 5.13 gears and a doubler with 7.4:1 low range, so the tranny isn't working as hard as you may think.

Nice score on the winch. Got my CJ about 95% done, now if they weren't planning on 50 work weekends next year I might would be able to wheel in the near future. :(

not bad for $400... You will have to find some time to wheel... it would be good to ride some trails wth you again!!

Yeah, that's what I was referencing plus I was being a smart ass. I've seen this truck come a long ways. I remember seeing it at the first SFWDA Summer Convention the CTB hosted and it looked completely different.

I like the EXO!

You should have seen what it looked like after the mud bog (Hog Lot Mud Bog in TN)- it was a sandy silty mud that I am still peeling out of the frame... and obviously the radiator. :shaking:

It was a full bodied truck during that SFWDA ride... locked front and rear on tons with 38s on beadlocks. I busted a rear D60 shaft that weekend. I just kept pushing the envelope and upgrading what broke. I love working on it... I hope I don't run out of things to upgrade!

Broke the axle on Little Tellico if I remember correctly. This was before Pull Cable ever thought about existing and when Little Tellico had a steep hill climb at the end of it. Oh how things change.

Yup- had a nice crowd to see me break on a trail that I pass in 2wd now (it is a little more open now)...

I will get back to the Exo build eventually... BUT since I had one stick of tube left and the FOAs my wife bought for Christmas... I went with the new suspension first. I bent up some striaght hoops, crossover- plates and gussetted to the frame. Everybody loves pics!!

Driver side- very close to the brake master cylinder

Driver's side required a little clearance for the steering... Had I angled the upper hoops- I wouldn't have had this issue. However- angling the hoops created more issues with the inner fenders, battery box, brake lines and fuse box...

I had to jack the truck pretty high to get the COs in- Still had some droop left in the COs but I had no preload on them.
