I have had a Milemarker 12,000lb winch on the front bumper for several years and it has not failed me. In fact it has pulled me and several other people out of all kinds of situations. I also have a Ramsey Pro 8000 mounted on the rear that I won at a Jeep Jamboree in '94 that is pretty worn out. I had the opportunity to get a working Warn M12,000 for a fair deal, but it's mounted different and drove some changes on the front bumper... I will rebuild the winch over the winter, but I wanted to use it at the Fall Crawl. The MM12k will get moved to the back tomorrow and the Ramsey will go to trailer duty.
The large Warn winches are beasts... I didn't realize until I picked it up. I was actually worried that it wouldn't fit-and it didn't until I modified the winch plate and got rid of the AC condensor (I don't use AC anyway). The pics are of the MM12k vs the Warn 12k.
Original winch mount with bottom mount Milemarker winch. This was the winch plate from an old Ramsey grillguard/winch mount.
Welded on a 1/2" plate over the front 1/4" plate that held the fairlead. Added the crossbar at the top and braced with 1/4" gussetts.
The winch is a close fit now, but it's snug and working. I had to rewire my 12voltguy.com in cab winch switch as well.
