Dog barrier help!

OK, I have an xj that I pull the doors off in good weather. I don't keep much up front but I'm always worried that someone could reach in and run off with one of my tool sets so i figured a dog barrier would deter a lazy theif. I would like to find one with an access door.
I've tried searching Google and Amazon and it's either really flimsy or for a 2014-. I tried searching naxja and Cherokee forum but they are really aggravating to navigate or some 16yr old says to make one. That will happen if i cant point click enjoy for a reasonable price.So I figured I'd reach out here. New,used,custom, other makes that work,or places to look any help would be appreciated.

Could you cut the barrier in half (for example) and add some simple aluminum trim to finish the cut edge, then hinge one side and add a lock hasp? Or make your own door in the middle of the barrier in sort of the same way?

I don't know if this helps, but here are pictures of a cage installed in a former Highway Patrol XJ that I purchased recently.
