Anyone know where to get DOM around boone. I am looking for some 1 3/4 .120 to finish up my boatsides on my chevy truggy. Tripplett and Coffey are supposed to call me back with a price, but I have a feeling it will be alot from them. I need a little over 20 feet but depending on the price I might get two sticks. Thanks

I got mine delievered from somewhere in charlotte. I dont' remember the name cause my boss ordered it for me... I'll get the name and number and post it up when i can

Triplett and Coffey didn't even know what I was talking about last time I went in there and asked for HREW or DOM. And they are expensiv for most materials. Give Bud at Budbuilt in Downtown Lenoir, behind the McDonalds. He usually has what you are looking for in stock or can get it quick.

+1

Benco is a good source but last time we called they wouldn't price stuff out for an individual...only companies.
For what its worth, Bud gets his tubing from them and will most likely sell at his cost, possibly cheaper because he buys in bulk.Just tell him Stretch and Jamie (CoonDogger) sent ya. Another incentive is he is 30 minutes closer to Boone in each direction.

Hope this helps.

Nothing wrong with using Bud, but if that's what they told you on the phone...you were talking to the wrong person. Every time I go to benco they want to know what I'm building now. Definitely cool people. They also sometimes have good scrap for cheap. Just bring your own sawzall and cut the tubing in the parking lot if you don't have a trailer.

I can get you HREW delivered to Boone any Tuesday or Thursday usually...DOM might take a little more time as it's usually a special order from Benco...or so they say...you gotta be real specific sometimes...depends on who you speak with...

I'd used to just say order it from someone closer to charlotte to get your DOM but with fuel prices it might be just the same to have it delivered to Boone. I'd have to check to be sure though.

...on another note...I have yet to figure out why anyone in the 4wheeling community in Boone even bothers to go to Triplet and Coffey for anything other than bolts (they do have a lovely selection of almost any bolt you'd need)...their prices for material are usually between outrageous and ridiculous. I limit my trips there for bolts and misc. solid stock (they do machine work pretty regularly so they have a bunch of neat sizes around) only.

It's very worth the drive across town to Clemens Welding. (On Niley Cook Rd. just off of 321...you can see it from 321...behind the rafting place) Go and introduce yourself to Jim. Tell him your a wheeler and what you're working on. If your looking for a random piece for a smaller job... more times than not you'll walk outta there with a piece that's worth much more than you payed for it...

And after all of that...if HREW will work for you I've got a stick I could sell you tomorrow if you're around. I might have a stick of DOM too...i'd have to double check though...

Will, do you have any idea on what Benco's going rate on a stick of 1.75 DOM is? I'm thinking about picking up another piece to do a little more reinforcement to my cage.

benco does not stock dom. i can get you some dom but you will have to pick it up in hky. let me know if u are interested. i can get preety good prices but the more you buy the cheaper it is.

Last I ordered was around 45 bucks a stick for HREW...if you shop around you can find DOM for a few bucks over that price...but...i have no way of transporting 20 ft. sticks at the moment...

Thanks guys. I called bud and he said he had about 5 sticks. And he charges around 4 bucks a foot, so I think I will go get 2 sticks tomorrow with my trailer, which is more than I need but its nice to have around.

Will-I was the one who bought some 1.5" .250 from you last summer for a tie rod. I was going to ask you but I was at tripplett and coffey anyway/. I usualluy get good prices from Bill there, if its in stock. But I wont be back, they ordered my 9 feet of 2X6 recatangle tubing 3/16 wall for my boatsides, and it was 100 even, which I though was high, cause I have only every bought small stuff like 18 ga or flat bar from them. Plus neither them or custom fab or whatever (near bojangles) called me back with prices and I needed it quick.
