Has anybody dovetailed there Toyota? Where did you move everything that was mounted on the fenders? Pictures would be awesome!

I say you should bend a grill hoop and attach it to a solid front bumper, then bend another hoop to fit at the firewall. Run tubes at the angle you want to connect the two, cut the hood down and pin it on top, cut off what ever sticks out. Leave as much inner fender as you can and attach it to the two bars that run from grill to firewall. After you get this figured out, we'll do the tacoma next.

The easiest way to do it is really to just remove the entire inner fender. Mark everything that was bolted to the inner fender. Bend a hoop that goes from drivers side firewall to passenger side firewall (cut a hole in the firewall and attach it to the legs of a cage if you want it to be really stout). Then you basically just make tabs or brackets to hang everything that was on the inner fender on that tube instead then just hang the fenders and cut down hood on there as skins. Same deal with the grille. This was how Justin went about it when he rebuilt what was the Mangler and it made it pretty darn easy to work on everything. I think his was 2 bends and he took it down to frame width in the front. You can still squeeze a radiator in there but it cleans things up if you move it to the back because then you can push a winch mount back inside the engine bay basically.

Personally I would take anything that has wires going to it (coil, igniter, etc) and try to extend the wiring harnesses so it can be mounted on the firewall. This will keep random wires away from that big open space created by cutting out the inner fender.

I was thinking that since he doesnt have a cage to tie into, the hoop at the firewall could tie into the frame or rocker guards. Then tie that in with the hoop he has in the bed, either through the cab or as an exo. I like the idea of extending wires and mounting to the firewall.
