What's the deal???
I have a 89 xj with aw4 + np242
This is my second time replacing the drive plate. Either I'm over torquing or the torque converter is warped???? I used permanent thread locker for the bolts. And as far as the temp gauge.... yesterday I drove to a friends house and went to two diff places and needed a jump. Today, haven't driven at all.... temp gauge was reading hot. What the hell would give my temp gauge power while the key is in the off position?

when you bolt the converter to the flywheel, do you pull the converter forward (into the crank) before tightening the converter bolts?
is there a metal plate(spacer looking thing) that goes on after the flywheel?
is there excessive crank end play?

how long ago did you replace the flexplate?
if your temp gauge is pegged, sounds like i short, did it happen the same time as your flywheel replacement?

No I left the converter seated in the transmission. The spacer thing is there. Only bolts up one way like the flex plate. Crank doesn't hop or anything. Flex plate turns like normal. First time it broke...it broke in a circle, around the bolts. Now it has a triangular crack. And I noticed both the water temp and oil psi gauge is reading while off. No relation to when I changed the flex plate (3 weeks ago).

Thx for replying. More concerned about the battery issue atm. But advice and help is nice.
