Hello,

I am new to the group and I am trying to help my boss with a problem with his Jeep. Here is the problem;

While driving down the highway at around 55 the front drive shaft failed and knocked a very large hole in the transfer case. I located a replacement transfer case and a front driveshaft at a salvage yard and he installed it after replacing the u joints. He also replaced the rear driveshaft u joints. He now has a very strong vibration at around 30 mph and again at 50 mph.

Could the damage to the trasfer case also have caused damage to the transmission or something else in the driveline that could cause this vibration? Any thoughs or suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Matt

I think it's more likely that the shafts are out of phase, or the junkyard shaft is not quite round... why did the first d-shaft fail.. lifted alot?

What's this rig like? almost stock? modified stock?
