I'm looking for a good place in the piedmont (I live in asheboro) to get the driveshafts on my K5 lengthened. Also, does anybody know what kind of price range I'd be looking at? The K5 has 6" of suspension lift.

Oliver's in Winston.

x2 on fleet pride.

John there built my last one for $125. not stretching or retubing but complete new DS with new joints on both ends

Stupid ?, but where's Fleet Pride?

fleet pride is everywhere :)

The oen I am familiar with is Charlotte, but I know they have a RDU location also

Cheaper to shorten rather than lenthen a shaft by over half the $$. I had Brakes Inc in Raleigh do my last shafts. I liked their job/attitude better than the last time I dealt with Fleet Pride (although not quite as cheap).

Brakes charges $55 per weld, plus material. If you shorten a shaft, it's just one weld (unless you need to retube). Lengthening is 2 welds plus the tube for retubing.

edit: what I was going to saw was that you'll be cheaper if you have/can find shaft in good shape that will fit your joints, and have it shortened.

fleet pride is also in greensboro 7603 boeing dr 27409

I could get the rear out of a K truck but I also need the front lengthened, so paying for one extra driveshaft and having it shortened and then lengthening my front driveshaft would probably cost the same as getting both lengthened. I also have a K-10 but I'd like to keep the driveshaft on it, as it is still used occasionally. Thanks for the input everybody
