Driveway Wheeling

I want my time spent wathing that back.

Now thats hard core!

I cant believe he didnt beak a shaft with that crazy wheeling!

LOL, I know, old post. I saw on my youtube account that this video had gotten alot of views from this site last year, so I decided to join up.

Yes, I do wheel the XJ, and no its not a mall crawler. The wheels are shiny because they and the tires were brand new. I don't have any offroad videos anymore because google deleted them.

Here are some current pics and specs. I hope to test out the new suspension in a few weeks, once finals are over.

Specs:
Front suspension is a 3-link with FOA 2" coilovers, the rear is just a Rustys 3" spring pack. Everything sits at about 4.5" over stock.
For axles I am running the D30 up front with an ECTED locker, 4.56 gears, and RCV shafts. The rear is the D44 that came in it and it has an ECTED locker and 4.56 gears also.
It also has the brake booster and master cylinder out of a 2000 Grand Cherokee. The bumpers, rock rails, exocage and tube doors were all built by me.

Seems like a lot of money to spend on a d30. Why not just up grade to a d44?

:shaking::shaking::shaking::shaking::shaking:

wow, talking about going around your bunghole to get to your elbow. thats a lot of work to get rid of a disco that all you had to was swap into TJ shafts and make a block off plate.

OR....am i missing something?

The reason that I built up the D30 was because I don't plan on anything bigger than 35's with this rig. If I do ever go any bigger I will most likely be out of college and have a real job with real money where I can build some nice big axles. The D30 was already locked and geared when I did this to it, so no point in buying a new axle and re-gearing and locking it. With the RCV's the D30 will be plenty strong for me.

The reason for all of the extra work to get rid of the vac disco was because I built a 3-link, and you can't really mount a heim joint to this big cast piece. Sleeving it also made it stronger than with the cast piece.
Here is the disco part, you can see that you can't mount a heim to it.

Hey I'm not hatin'. Part of the fun of doing all this is modding it yourself. Personally though I would have just swapped in a non-disco D30 and swapped the gears and locker. Yeah you got another R&P setup to do, but seems like that would be less work than what you did here. However, nice job and it looked like fun. :)

really?
I think once you are out of college, with a "real job", you will find youraelf paying real taxes with a real mortgage, having to buy real clothes and real expenses a real wife who saps it up, leaving you still real broke.

That's just reality...

Pretty sure I had more money when I got out of college. You know, that part where I went from delivering furniture to working in an engineering firm really helped that situation.

Unless he's going to be a music teacher or something. Then he is screwed. :p

totally unrelated to the thread........... blaze, are you still doing bedliners? im getting a truck this week that is in dire need of a liner.
