Trailriding for me, the people are like an extended family, My Jeep on the trail takes me to a place where my mind can relax and in my opinion the wheelin crowd is the best Ive ever been around since the service. Id have to say it is a lifestyle for me, we are allways planning the next trip or thinking about the next clubride ,allways thinking about that next mod on the Jeep. I have regretted spending money on a lot of things in my life, wheelin isn't one of them.
I liked wheeling so much I decided to take the money I was spending on beer and other stuff and put it into my jeep. Then I was able to buy/build I nicer jeep, I didn't get hammered and break it, and I met a much better more responsible crowd of people. Really changed my life.
I like to hit the trail and relax to good tunes and good convo with great people. I love camping and not having a cell phone on all the time. I'm always looking forward to the next big trip and love little trips to Uwharrie.
Luckily I met a girl while doing this type of stuff, so she loves it and wants to continue doing it.
Her own words just recently were "baby I want to keep your jeep and make it big and bad like that (pointing at big nasty stretched and 4 linked rig) and buy a 4 door rubicon later so we can still have family trips too"
I literally put a ring on her finger an hour after that.
Trailriding... Camping, Beverages, Bonfire Conversations, Comradery, good friends... I still wheel with most of the same crowd I got started with, we have all come a long way and have stuck together for almost a decade at this point. Been fortunate enough to add a lot of names to that list and made alot of great friends along the way.
I like racing, and would love to get into it if I had the money, but for now Ill just enjoy it from the sidelines.
As Jason said, Ive spent a lot of money on things I regret, wheeling has never been one of them.
I like it because it gives me something to do. I'm a machinist and I try to make as many things as I can. I love welding, fabricating, and metal work in general. I also like to have very capable trucks. I like mixing and matching components together that were never meant to go with each other, yet they work together in a glorious harmony. Besides, it's really about the only thing I spend my money on besides normal bills.
I don't find the off road lifestyle stressful, but I don't race. I'm just an occasional trail rider. I work on my junk and wheel it when I have time, which I haven't had any of over the past year.
for me its just about something new that still gives me thrills I raced motorcross as a kid road raced as a young aldult still do a little of both but im really falling in love with weelin I just love mastering skills but im far from a master right now I break everything but its fun
Meh, I think like a lot of folks, it is just being outside and active. It doesn't matter what it is, but it is a lot easier to hop on the MTB and ride the trails by my house vs. going wheeling. If I had some wheeling trails in my backyard, it'd be a different story...
