Dry cut metal saws

Have any y’all used those dry cut metal saws. The ones that look like a chop saw with the toothy blades. Evolution has one and Milwaukee has one that looks like a skil saw. Got a brand new Milwaukee abrasive saw, straight out of the box it struggles to cut 2x2 tubing 3/16 thick

I've had the milwaukee skill saw one for years. It's amazing. Cuts 1/2" plate steel no problem. Nice smooth, cold, no burs edge. I wonder why I don't use it more actually... Blades are about $70 and if you let it start chattering you'll knock off every tooth in a hurry. Keep pressure on and it cuts very well. Good for straight cuts and much faster than a band saw, can't cut curvy lines though like a bandsaw.

I have the older version of the saw above, it works great. I have a milwaukee portaband bandsaw as well, but tend to use this where I am cutting a lot of the same size stock. Factory blade is good, a Diablo blade is great. I take my time, and use cutting fluid to start most cuts, blade life and dust can't be beat when compared to abrasives.

If I were to replace it, it would be for something with a larger, cast iron cutting deck/base

Ive been running the evolution saw for a few years now. It works fairly well and cuts the 0.120 wall DOM pretty quick and fairly straight. Tried a few different blades (Evolution mild steel, Evolution RageBlade, and the Diablo one) and the rageblade definatly can cut the longest but the cuts arent the greatest quality and the diablo has been my go to replacement the past couple times. I'd be careful using it on too thick of material but it should be able to work on 3/16 wall 2x2 although it would be hard to beat a $100 bauer band saw (harbor freight) and a good blade as far as price per cut.

I bought a Evolution 380 awhile back and haven't looked back. The thing just straight up rips through DOM. It's loud but the parts come off fairly free of burrs and they're not hot like an abrasive saw. Plus it's about 800x times faster than an abrasive and definitely faster than a band saw.

Something is wrong with your abrasive saw. It should take maybe 5-10 seconds to cut that in a 14" abrasive saw. Could be a bad batch of blades, a weak motor, buildup on the blade, or if you were too light when you start into the cut, the metal hardens and becomes like ten times harder to cut. Especially if you start and then stop.

Yeah see I don’t know. It takes it forever to start making the cut then when it gets to the bottom it just stops. I can put enough pressure on it to stop the motor or trip my breaker. I think I’m gonna take it back an try a dry cut one
