Ok this is sort of a stupid question. Im swapping the motor out of a 93 suzuki sidekick. The motor it came with is blown and I have a stock replacement motor to swap in. Heres my question, how do you put the motor back into the motor mounts and simultaneasly allign the splines on the clutch into the trans. It seems like if I drop it into the engine mounts then I wont be able to allign the clutch. I was thinking maybe take off the tranny crossmember and jack up the trans so I can bolt the negine to the trans first then lower the entire thing down on to the engine mounts?? Ive pulled trasnmision before but this is the first time for a mtor swap.

Usually i pull the trans back a bit and then put it back up to the engine when done installing the engine.

i have a 93 sidekick, so here's what id do...

Pull the distributor off the rear of the head to avoid any damage.. There should be plenty of room to pull the tranny up a few inches, getting you above the mounts. If you moved the clutch disk realign it with a tool.. Lower the engine in get it the lower 2 tranny/engine studs started into the tranny holes... put your tranny in 1st and spin the drive shaft (or engine to align the spines.. pushing the engine back as you do that...

Also you could easily remove the rubber mount from each side to allow you move sliding room. Then when on the tranny, jack each side to slip them in... Id do the above method, as you should have the distributor off anyway when lowering the engine in...

Thanks for the info guys, Im about too go finish pulling the old motor right now and I should be dropping the new one in tommarow or monday. Ill let ya know how it goes.
