Do correctly read that to get a duplicate title (in case of a lost one), there is a mandatory 15 day waiting period?
also, aside from having the title holders sig and notary, I assume it dosn't matter who actually drops it off at the DMV, right? Or do they require it to be the title person w/ ID in hand etc? Since they're going to just mail the title anyway.
Stupid situation:
My nephew, who is living w/ us here in MD, was in an accident. His car was totalled, although the damage was minimal ('97 Escort wagon).
Car is going (already gone) to the junkyard. Come to find out, his mom, who owns the car, has lost title. so the ins. co. won;t pay out until they provide it.
So she has to go through all this, to get a title for a car that will just be crushed...
