Can anyone tell me anything about Durhamtown ohv, im wanting to check into it to see it its worth the 4 hr trip. Any pics or experiences or info would be greatly appreciated

its out in the middle of nowhere, don't plan to jet out to a local restuarant, or even grocery store. Be prepared to get nickle and dimed for anything you might need to buy once on site, even down to a cell phone charge. I was there for the ECORS race in the middle of july, it was hotter than chit. I didnt explore much of the park, but I don't think its someplace you would trailride or find too many obstacles to play on (its not like the Flats, etc). Would be great if you're into MX or ATVs I think, lots of tracks. The GP track was fun to air my XJ out on.

The park does not offer a whole lot for the crawlers so to make it worth it take a quad bike or razr

The owner is a POS, thats putting it lightly. he will nickle and dime you as Tony stated. They do have a great GP track for 4x4s and SxS, but thats about it. There is a small rock garden on the opposite side of the park from the GP track. RV "cabins" are old and nasty, food is mediocre, and its a little pricey on things, especially $5 to charge your cell phone... If you have a dirt bike or ATV, its wonderful. If you like rocks in a 4x4, you'll be thrilled for about an hour and you are done, the rest is just rolling hills and flat trails that wind through pine trees. Really, thats about it for 4x4 rigs. Oh, they do have Slippery Nipple trail, but thats 1 trail and its a creek bed and is pretty easy and short.

Assuming we (ECORS) didn't get fawked within the last 2 weeks, I'd only make the trip to race or if I was in a side by side. Now, I wouldn't go there if it was 5 minutes away! Stay the fawk away and support a park that is trustworth and honest and is in it for the riders! Take a few minutes extra and drive to most any of the parks in Alabama, noteably the Great American Park! BTW, 4 hrs from Conover is a stretch. I'd expect it to be at least 5.5 hours. Took me just 4 hrs from Charlotte last 2 times I went last year.

Thanks for the info, thats what i was looking for.......honest input. Google maps said it was 4hr and 4 min there.

Its 45 mins after you turn off the main road... Lol

If you do go I hope you like roaches cuz there everywhere. :poop: just had a flash back of the camper I stayed in with rob. I had to sleep on the couch cuz the bed was full of them.

I chit you not, Joe is right! I kept hearing them running around at night. I hardly got any sleep because I was worried to death about them crawling on me while I was sleeping. I even washed EVERY piece of clothing, bag, shirt, blanket, etc. I had that weekend at the landry mat before I came home! There was no way I was bringing those monsters to my house!!!

Our club had a pretty good time there last year, but as many have noted, it is primarily for dirt bikes and ATV's. They really just opened the 4x4 trails a couple years ago and they are pretty anemic in most places right now. Lots of mud holes, I had to winch out a LOT. Can't say that I really noticed the nickel and diming, but I suppose that I look at it a little differently. I see it as a service that I don't have to go into town for, which seems great for me. As for charging your cell phone, damn it man, buy a car charger like everybody else. I thought is was worth the ride from Charlotte to go once just to check it out. Would I go again? Meh, maybe. Depends on who I was riding with. The place isn't particularly challenging, but some folks aren't looking for the tougher stuff like I am.
