Do those DVD and CD scratch repair thingys really work? $30 for one at BestBuy would be a bargain if it does considering how many DVDs my 14 month old has scratched!! It is annoying to be watching Nemo and it stop and skip!!!

water, good toothpaste and a terry cloth towel.

just a dab of paste, wet the towel and pastle lightly rub in small circles should polish out all but the biggest scratches. rinse and dry with a seperate terry towel.

nothing with "crystals" in it, other than that, pick one

brasso and cotton balls I will stand behind this as the best fixer for dvd's and cd above every thing else. use it just link you would for doing brass wipe it on let it dry and the buff it of it will take out all but the worst scratchs and make your disks shine. on bad disks you might need to apply it 2 or 3 times but it will work.

I bought the Novus Plastic Polish Kit they sell in the Jeep mags.

The stuff comes with 2 grades of polish and a shiner/cleaner. I've found it works great on the windows of the Jeep, but a side benefit is that it works great on CDs, DVDs, and other plastic items, too.

As long as the data under the plastic has not been scratched, you can use the the heavy polish and work your way down finer to fix most scratches on CDs and DVDs. I've even used it to repair a scratch on a plastic faced watch.

well, the possibility of him having toothpaste at home already is quite high, so there for cheap and easy, if by chance this doesn't work to satisfaction, there are alternatives.

x2 on the toothpaste. With 3-8 kids running around the house on average, my dvd's dont stand a chance.
