And anyone with a quad or dirt bike can race the 7 mile off road course at Antioch Speedway in Morganton.

And camping Friday night is FREE!!!

It's the annual Easter weekend Mid East Hare Scramble. Each year over 500 racers travel to Antioch Speedway to race the 7 mile course. Kids classes start racing at 8am, 9am and 10am. Then adult Motorcycles race at noon and adult quads at 3pm.

Admission is just $10.00. Racers have entry fees depending on the class they race in. See www.mideastracing.com for details.

No membership is required to race.

Just imagine lining up with a couple hundred other racers getting ready to take the green flag....it's insane...and sounds like thunder when they all crank up at the same time.

Antioch Speedway is one of the fan favorites on the circuit as fans can see several miles of racing from right there at the bleachers and then the hill climbs are insane in the woods. This year will feature quite a bit of water too as we had a very wet winter and the bottoms near Lower Creek are completely wet.

There are several videos to watch on the Antioch Speedway website at www.antiochspeedway.net or there are several more on YouTube.

That's all happening this Saturday, March 26th. Then stock car racing begins the following Saturday night April 2nd. Jason Smoot, the track promoter, is hoping to start back where he left off in November when he had 102 stock cars come to race at the Thanksgiving weekend event and saw the Late Model track record shattered 3 times that same weekend. The Blue Ridge Outlaw Late Models topped 100mph down the straight-aways and into the turns as the averaged over 93mph around the half mile super speedway dubbed The Talladega of Dirt.

Check out all the up-coming events at www.antiochspeedway.net or by visiting on Facebook at The New Antioch Speedway.

Here is one of the most popular videos from last year's Mid East Hare Scramble showing 313 adult dirt bike racers all getting ready to start their 12pm race:

Thank you Mid East Hare Scramble family for another amazing event here at Antioch Speedway. We absolutely love the people with this organization. It looks like around 569 racers raced the event, and a huge turnout of spectators. I knew when people could no longer get in through the gate to park on the property, There was one big crowd here!!! Thank you all for inviting people and sharing the event with your friends and fellow racers. I did all I could this year to help spread the word and try to help get the place ready for you, but our family's health situation kept me from doing anywhere near what I have been able to do in the past. Thank you everyone for stepping in to help fill that void. It is so awesome to get to talk to people from all over the world at these events. We met people from Austria, England and from al over the U.S.who came watch you all race. Good luck to everyone the rest of this 2016 season of racing. Hopefully, you all can keep up the momentum. Keep inviting your friends and family out to the races to help keep motor-sports alive and well.
Now, at Antioch Speedway, the focus will shift to stock car racing on Saturday nights. Hopefully everyone will get a chance to come check out these stock cars racing at speeds over 100mph on this half mile super speedway. Jason Smoot has done an amazing job preparing and promoting the speedway as he enters his second year promoting Antioch Speedway. I hope he can keep the momentum up from his last race event in November when he hosted 102 stock cars and saw the track record shattered 3 times on the near perfect racing surface.
I can't wait to see each and every one of you again here real soon. Maybe this Saturday night, April 2nd
