It has missed most of Harlan we got the worst of it in Cumberland. We had to rescue an elderly male who was trapped in his trailer above Cumberland. We have around 50 + homes affected. Most of the major rain went north of us to neighboring counties Harlan City and Bell County sent their swift water team to Whitesburg to help out and they almost lost their team when the swift water flipped their boat and they washed under a bridge and got beat up pretty good but hey all made it out ok. Haven't talked to any of them today will see them tomorrow to see what went on. The Judge and EM director didn't want our team to leave Harlan today we only did the one rescue today. Thay have called for us several times today to go help other counties, but they kept us here. We are supposed to get around 3 more inches of rain tonight. I figure we will get called out around 3 or 4 am to rescue someone that wouldn't leave their home when they could. If the rain misses us tonight, we probably will be called up in the morning to go help other counties. I really hate doing swift water rescues, but somebody has to try and do it. I have been a volunteering on the Rescue Squad for 31 years now and been Captain over it for about 20 years now.
Those who pray say a few prayers for us and the other rescue teams and people who need help.
