Eating Healthier, stomach problems?

So Jody's thread has me eating better for almost two weeks now and cut I out alcohol. My stomach has been so full of gas since and it really sucks, or stinks, however you want to put it. I have been uncomfortable since the beginning of last week when I started to eat more veggies and cut out most of the carbs. I'm really not doing anything that I haven't done in the past, but it's been a few years. I have done some internet reading, of course, but I can't trace much back to it. I stopped eggs for a few days with no change. Everything that I have had is stuff that I would normally eat, just not in any frequency. There was a lot of pasta and not generally much for vegetables other than broccoli and canned stuff. I guess I really haven't added much for veggies, just cut out the bad stuff.

Also, I have always taken fiber at night. That helped tremendously in the past, up until the last couple weeks since I started this deal.

Does anyone have any ideas of a way for me to turn?

What I have been eating:

Grilled Chicken
Grilled pork chops
Grilled Salmon
Sauteed yellow, red, orange peppers
Sauteed and raw onion
mixed green salads
cucumbers
tomatoes
broccoli
canned peas, green beans and corn
almonds
raw carrots
greek yogurt
granola
Jerkey
Bannanas
Eggs
Turkey Bacon

I have always eaten salads with cukes and tomatoes, so I can't imagine that's the problem.

x2! Protein will definitely make you rip ass more often (or at least so I hear). But there are quite a few of the foods you listed that will certainly give ya the poots!

Water, water, water! Whenever you make a big switch to your diet and opt for a healthier lifestyle, make sure you are taking in enough water. A good tip is to drink at least one full glass of water before you eat anything in the morning (I shoot for 2), also try to start every meal and snack with a big glass of water.

Other then that, grab some Beano and give your body a month to normalize. If you can stand it Kombucha is a readily available pro biotic drink that does a good job getting your GI back on track.

I don't care about the farts near as much as the bloat. I do drink fair amount of water. Probably 100-120 oz a day and should be more. The wife has been yelling at me about probiotics, I should probably do that. She says I don't want to take them to spite her. Maybe she's on to something:rolleyes:

Read up on FODMAPS. Basically foods that are more likely to ferment and cause gas... Like peppers & onions, for sure.

Yep probiotic def will help out and high protein will cause nasty gas for sure ask my woman lol I just blame that on the dog or baby tho haha if bloating is constant I’d look at some of the greens and try to determine if one of those are cause some can be problematic from what I’m finding! Your digestive track will need to adjust also I’ve been doing the clean eating for last 6 weeks and took 2-3 weeks for my stomach to not feel bloated! Any supplements added to this?

Same here, once my system got used to it I was fine. But the wife hates those farts, I usually just blame it on the dogs. I take casein protein at night and that can make you constipated if your system isn't used to it. I've been eating "bad" for years and a few weeks of eating clean with the accompanying farts/bloating/gas is easy to get over. It just takes time.

Water and probiotics for sure. Have a cheat day and eat some of the stuff that you felt better with and maybe it will even you out some.

Poop!

I'm the opposite...I had a protein shake and five boiled eggs at work the other day and didn't fart once! I was pretty sad that I couldn't share with all of my coworkers.

Those peppers and onions will do it for sure! I ate some today from Chipotle and currently have some hot nasty farts!
Your body sort of goes into shock when you stop eating processed food and all the junk chemicals and preservatives in them. Usually you feel like crap at first, but after about 2 weeks start to feel amazing. Pound water, piss like a horse, lay off on the onions.

Also, canned veggies have a ton of sodium, consider flash frozen. They taste better if you ask me.

No to canned veggies, yes to fresh/frozen. Like i've said in the other thread, we typically buy our bulk veggies frozen(broccoli, vegetable medley, stuff like that). We usually buy fresh peppers, brussel sprouts etc. It takes a week or two to wean your body off the processed crap, but once you do it gets a lot easier to eat clean. I guarantee that if I go eat processed food right now, I'll be hurting all day long.

Last year I was having a difficult time with bloating, along with some some other stomach problems. My older brother suggested I Stop taking all the Supplements I was doing, based on his experience. Depending on age, the body can't handle the same things it used to. I was doing Fish oil, minerals, vitamins, & saw palmetto. I was taking Ranitidine & other Gas pills, daily. A kidney problem landed me in the Hospital for 4 days. Ate Their sodium [salt] free meals & a bicarbonate solution, & came home feeling Great. I stopped all the Supplements, & have had very little gas/bloat problem since. IF needed I will take a Ranitidine. If that doesn't do it, a Omeprazole, will! But I feel like the other said, it's your diet change, & gassy vegetables.

Yeah, I like frozen stuff better as well. I don't have time to make two dinners every night so the kids will eat it. They are already bitching. It's still better than a box of mac and cheese. I can't always get it right trying to chase the kids and do all the other stuff. I can only do the best I can, which will probably be canned veggies a couple times a week. I'm not eating salt in anything else really, so I figure it's ok.

:lol::lol: JEEEEEEZUS....that's a ticking time bomb waiting to happen. I even think about boiled eggs and I get atomic ass.

FWIW, broccoli farts are pretty bad...that's what does it to me. That, and protein.

Its funny how different bodies, stomachs and enzymes can be.
For me when I eat low carb gas goes away completely. Im also more regular or loose. I know folks who get gassy and constipated on high protein.
Just weird individualness I suppose.

Maltodextrin will make me poo hot, violent, liquid....it's baaad and makes my stomach cramp up something fierce.

that shitty non-home-made jerky yo.
