I spotted an Eaton rear end under a truck at the junk yard a few weeks back. How much do these things typically sell for? I believe I have heard the hot set up is to run a 14 bolt detroit and axle shafts in them. I am just curious what an average price would be. I know you run one of these bigassedredjeep. Dammit, posted in wrong section. Sorry.

Picked mine up for $50, not sure how much I have in it overall, but basically the same price as if I had built a 14-bolt. The only down side to these axles are the limited availability of gears, 4.11, 4.56, 5.13. 5.13's of course being the less common. They have a drop in third-member like a 9" but much larger, and the housing can be shaved quite a bit.

mine is set-up with the 14-bolt detroit, 4.56's, shafts, disc brake kit(modified the spacers), as well as the perches/u-bolts&plates/traction bar mount all are for a 14-bolt.

*if anybody has a 5.13 third, I need one.

I am curious, I know I have heard of people putting 14bolt gears in a Eaton diff housing, how much more clearance do you get? other benifits? drawbacks?
