Edelbrock 600 tuning question

Have a Edelbrock performer on a 307 and it runs a bit rich at idle and cant dial it out externally. Also it stumbles a bit on hard acceleration. Seems that its just too rich for the motor. I know that its too much carb, but its what I got and its a farm truck, not a DD. Can I tune it out leaner with the jet/rod/spring kit? Timing and everything else is set correctly so Im sure its carb. I 'understand' how Edelbrock says to target rich/lean and jump stages, but will this affect the idle circuit? I believe that I can adjust the acceleration stumble with the plunger linkage.

what is the model# u are working with? the tuning kit will help the hesatation but may not do anything for the idle circuit if does the 2 front screws make any difference when adjusted if not u may have some trash holding to main needles open letting fuel trickle in a good way to diagnose this is carb will be out of fuel after sitting over night and eng has to turn over more than usual to fill carb before starting.

performer 1406
I can adjust the idle with the screws, just not enough
bowl holds fine up to 3 months

u just identified 1 problem (holds fuel for 3 months)dont let it sit that long start it at least once a month. i have a customer that i installed a 502bbc with a 800cfm eddelbrock carb and every few months he brings it to me whining about it running crappy and hesitates of idle. to better explain the situation he is nearly 70 years old and the eng. is in a 67 c10 with a m22 muncie he does not drive it just lets it sit so when he brings it in i give it hell and take it back at no charge for letting me have fun .i dont know how to post youtube vids on here but go search dyno drag 2 its a maroon fleetside with me giving it hell. but back to the point if said thrashing does not fix it get a tuning kit and tuning dvd. if u cant get a dvd ill lend u mine its basic but u may learn somthing.
