Yesterday and today. Several different locations spread out over 30 miles..I've noticed more mosquitos than I ever remember. The air is thick with them.

Anyone else think there's more now than usual?

I'm assuming the hurricane and rain has something to do with it.

Yes, it is due to all the rain.

I'm ready for the first freeze to kill all the bugs.

Doesn't help that these things are everywhere now

Yall ought to head down this way.... I saw a mosquito at the gym yesterday.

I talked to a guy that lives in Calabash today and he was talking about how bad they were down there. Said he was going to spray this weekend with his special concoction of beer, mouthwash and Epsom salt. He didn't know why it worked but it worked.

They’ve been bad all summer by me. But the hurrinado must have blown more in because it’s gotten ridiculous in the last few days.

^this...I was in New Bern yesterday & the two things I noticed was all the gutted houses from flood damage & the number/size of mosquitoes. I'll definitely be bringing bulk skeeter spray down with me on Monday!

What are you doing down this way?

Also...they're crafty bastards. Apparently they can lay their eggs well before a storm and then when the eggs get wet, they grow and hatch. Too bad the water didn't hang around long enough to hatch out a bunch of dragonflies too. The good thing is, they're all new mosquitoes so there's very little chance of disease transmission.

Reading commercial/industrial electric meters for the City of New Bern. We had 4 that lost comms during Florence; 1 had to be reprogrammed, 1 had to be power cycled & 2 were DOA (meters were 3-5' off the ground & you could see water marks 8-10' high). Set 2 new meters on Thursday, have to install upgraded comms Monday.

No kidding. I look like I have chicken pox today after cleaning up the backyard. Mothers are bigger than normal too. gov is spraying in our area but I don’t think it’s doing crap.

The only ones I sit down are empty!

Beats me.... Pyrethrins are cheap, last a month at least.
