well I took the sender out of my new/ used gas tank, to clean the tank up

It has a High performance direct fit Carter electric fuel pump in the tank, connected to the sender

I have tried to run the numbers on the fuel pump and have not had any luck finding out what the fuel pump came out of

I am running a edelbrock offroad carb

just wondering If I should replace the sender and use the mechanical fuel pump on the block?

or

will my carb benefit from having an electric fuel pump?

where do you wire in the electric fuel pump?

ignition switch?

id stick with the electric fuel pump... 5-10 psi is typically plenty for a carb setup.... depending on the pump it may be designed for this or for FI (which is alot higher pressure)... id prob say to get a regualtor just to be on the safe side, and add tune-ability to it....

some people run a seperate switch for the fuel pump (hidden= antitheft device)... or you can wire it to the ign switch... basically it needs to be a 12V switched/fused source powering a relay to the pump

Josh, i can stop by and show you how to wire up a relay off of the ignition for it if you want. I would throw the mech. pump in your spares box and put a block off plate in it's place for now. That way, you have a trail spare if it ever comes to that.

Depending on the psi of the pump you may have to put a regulator on it. Most carbs fuel pumos are usually betwen 3-5 psi and elecs are normally higher.
