Electrical tech?

I installed an amp in my rig because I couldn't hear the radio at full blast It started last ride about halfway through. The mp3 player will be on and the song cuts off and then back on but it doesn't skip. The song continues but the sound cuts for about 1-2 secs and comes back.

What could that be? A short in the speaker wires or is it related to the amp? Anyone else have an issue like this?

amp is kickin out from being overdriven. had a sony and orion do the same thing either turn the amp down or run a bigger power wire to it from the battery (ground wire needs to be equal or bigger than power also) I ran mine from the junction block at the firewall(glow plug terminal on 95 chevrolet) with an 8 guage wire and it would cut out when the bass hit. moved it to battery with a 4 guage, and problem went away. mine is a 2600 watt memphis belle.

if you have a digital multimeter, ck the voltage going into the amplifier.
