I just picked up a firebird... got it for free (owner was fed up with it) has the 3.8 in it.. the car starts up fine, but no throttle response at all. I can floor it and not 1 rpm is gained.
It's a 2000 firebird, auto.. I went to see if the throttle cable was broken, to my surprise, no throttle cable.

Anyone messed with these electronic messes? If it's gonna be crazy to fix it, i'm gonna swap it for a small block. .

You would need access to the pids for the throttle control system through the data section of a good scan tool for starters. That will give you a general direction. You'll need the wiring diagram and with a dvom you could do basic component test. If you need wiring diagrams pm me!
