Just headed out for Easter Jeep Safari. Towing out the jeep with the hummer, so gas mileage should be awesome!

We are planning to hit about 7 trails, but are really just hoping for good weather. We are using a Spot device, so if anyone is interested they can track us crossing the 12 states (2020 miles) by clicking the link below.

We will try to update this thread with pictures throughout the week. Rock on!

I see you are down in my neck of the woods. Have fun with traversing ATL .

How are you updating your travel? Via phone or ?

jealous!

Hahaha! I have family in Birmingham so thought I would visit them on my way out.

Back on the road - 400 miles down - going to push another 2 hours to Tupelo, MS.

We have been both ways and it is about a wash. One time we had to take the south route to miss the snow in Kansas. Then ran into it in New Mexico anyway :shaking: Another time we went out one way and back the other just for a change in scenery. Wish I was heading out there again! Have Fun

FWIW, looks like I20 and 78 to Memphis would be about the same as I40 to Memphis. Tracking you on Spot, getting ready for my drive :) I still need a place to stay in Moab, recommendations? Most of the motels I've looked at on line are booked? :( Maybe you can find me something while your there :)

Finally on the road. Apparently, we just couldn't get enough of that continental breakfast.

I decided to leave the trailer at home, because during my test runs it just felt like too much stress on the hummer for a cross country trip. Something about a lifted and tube-fendered TJ on 29"s that get's my engine revving!

Not sure about I-20 west of B'ham (never been that way), but IMHO I-40 between Knoxville & Memphis is the worst/MOST boring drive ever (with I-81 being 2nd)! That's pretty bad considering all of the long mid-west stretches of desolation/nothingness!

Stopped for some gas right outside of Little Rock. Looks like we are getting a solid 9-10 mpg. :shaking:

4 hours down, probably another 8 to go - trying to get to Shamrock, TX.

How much gear do you have in the back of the hummer? That thing is squatting a bit. :p

I have two mounted 37x13.50 Pitbull bias Rockers in the back plus my spare alloy axle shafts (f & r) and our livables (clothes and food).

I went ahead and stopped at a weigh station for fun-

10,495lbs with a full tank of gas and two passengers. That is right at the factory rated capacity for my 3.7 liter.

Decided to take part in some finger licking Arkansas B-B-Q to take a short break.

My F150 gets about that towing my xj with my heavy ass trailer. I would be intrested in what you spent fuel wise once you get back if you dont mind sharing.
