i suggest using clevlite 77 bearings. good stuff.
are you getting the crank turned or just polished?
really i've used several different brands and never had a bearing problem.
these were always on freshly turned cranks.
if you are just getting it polished i'd suggest checking the oil
clearance using plastiguage. make sure it's within specs.
and felpro gaskets are hard to beat. but once again i've used
several different brands without a problem. of course the head
and deck are always surfaced to assure a perfectly flat
sealing surface. (always taking just enough materal off to flatten
em out) hope this helps you get er dun.
I had the crank ground and polished. 10 over for the crank bearings, and 20 over for the rod bearings. I defiantly planned on checking the oil clearances.
I was looking at DNJ engine components for the bearings as rockauto does not have the clevite in oversized bearings. I figure i have to order new gaskets, timing chain, and what not I might as well get it all in one shot.
I'm using Clevite in my chevy 350. But I just got a set of DNJ piston rings for my 350. I've never used them but they look good and I couldn't find much negative talk on the interwebs. DNJ seems to be a good product.
Have you checked out LC Engineering for bearings? They may have some, not sure what name brand.
sounds like your on the right track john.
engine builder stuff is good--as well as rock auto if you are buying a kit.
the only brand i've had an issue with was evergreen---seems their gaskets
arn't up to par (thin materal). to get the brands you want you may have
to buy em piece by piece. luckly my parts hook up gets me what i want then discounts
them as in a kit.
