My son's 170K POS daily 2003 Civic EX (Vtec) appears to have a blown head gasket (overheating... confirmed combustion gases in coolant).

Looking for a trustworthy shop to deck the head and install new valve stem seals (FelPro kit)
 
Allison Machine shop in Asheboro did the head for my 04 Civic. They had the valve seals on the shelf and had the head ready in a couple days. Been on the car for probably 30k miles or more.

Those 1.7 Honda engines are when is the headgasket gonna blow, not if. Think my engine had around 150k when the head gasket blew.
 
Might be worth asking the guys at Triad Import Specialist in KVegas. that's where I'd take Erin's Accord when I needed something more than I cared to do. They are all Honda Certified fro the Stearlership, and they went out and started their own gig. Good prices, good guys and they should have a good answer to your question.
