Put about 1/2 quart of rotella in the trans of my dually a few mins ago.It was in a ATF bottle and I didn't check it before I poured it in,found it when I was checking the fluid level. Will that little affect anything or should I change the fluid.I changed it about 2 months ago.

1/2 a quart? Meh...I wouldn't be real excited about it being in there, but I don't see a good way to get it all out without a full trans fluid dump.

May not hurt a thing. But whats a transmission cost, vs. a few quarts of ATF and a filter? Like to gamble?

Yeah I aready picked up 8 quarts of Dextron V.I caught it almost as soon as I did it so I don't think it got too far.

It'll be fine. Many hydraulic systems spec ATF or hydraulic oil or a straight weight motor oil. A half quart mixed in with 8 quarts won't matter.

That's kinda what I thought too.The whole system holds like 23 quarts so by the time is was mixed in w all that it would be a miniscule amount in there.Im headed back to Norfolk On Wed and that'll be a 1000 mile round trip w a trailer.Im just real anal about that kinda stuff esp w as many miles as it has on it.This should be the last trip up there and I don't plan on anything else big until we go to PA in Apr.Im gonna do the trans and injectors both by then.

You’ll be fine...I’ve long said lubrication is lubrication, mechanical parts don’t care what it is, as long as it is. Hydraulic resiliency would probably come in to play eventually, but nothing to drop the pan for. My concern would be condition of that oil in the atf quart. Usually, when I have oil in a container it wasn’t originally in, it’s trash and probably has residual kitty litter in from oil clean up.

I knew the origin of the oil I put in it.I had changed the inj oil in my other truck and since I buy Rotella by the gallon I had put it (the oil) in the empty ATF bottle(left over from the last trans service) and used a nozzle off a gear oil bottle to refill the HPOP res.I just recapped it and put it back on the shelf. The oil was new.
