ever fall asleep at the wheel?

So I'm a little confused.
Why is he filming himself in the first place?
And looks like a seatbelt would have helped...

Saw that video in a safety training session not long ago. Kinda funny but really serious.

I have a co-worker that falls asleep on his 1.5hr drive home daily. He's ran his truck into a ditch or over a curb more times than I can count. He hardly sleeps during the day when we're working night shifts. Its really gonna piss me off when someone else gets involved in one of his sleepy moments. I'm seriously glad I don't travel the same roads he does.

My dad used to fall into a light, semi-conscious "sleep" on his drive from Raleigh to Charlotte sometimes. He would drive for miles in perfect control and never remember a damn bit of it.

When I used live in SC I drove 65 miles one way to work. There was many mornings I would drive one 30 mile stretch of it and not remember doing it.

I totaled one car in high school by falling asleep at the wheel as matter of fact the Welcome To Carthage sign still has the tire tracks on it today from where I mowed it down and all they did was stand it back up.

I fell asleep comming back home from Chromerunner's place one time. I fell asleep somewhere near statesville and woke back up right at hickory........I was off in the rough section of road....maxed out in 4th gear in the old Tacoma

I dozed off coming down 421 from Boone to Winston once, wife was with me.
Woke up just as it slid into the rail on the left side, put a nice "racing stripe" on wife's new Saturn and scraed the pi$$ outta her..
Lets see that is in '00, that stripe is still there. Good thing Saturns bounce.

Supposedly sleepy drivers cause more accidents than drunk drivers.

Sure cure:

1. Drink a "belly buster" soda.
2. Don't stop and pee, just hold it....you'll stay awake alright.

Seriously, a year and a half ago, I went on the South Beach diet...cut out most sugars and carbs, still keeping it up....I've been a whole lot more awake and aware when driving, etc since then...guess I was always on a sugar/carb crash before.

i used to run a route on sat mornings in hs down to washington. coming around the 264 bypass around greenville i dozed off one morning and woke up several feet in the median running 70mph. scared the ever loving schit out of me. now when im sleepy and have to drive i just throw in a dip.

i have a narcoleptic friend. he pulled over one time cause he waspassing out. and woke up being rear ended by a semi.

I fell asleep at the wheel once, driving home from school for winter break. That's how I killed my first truck. My sister still refers to it as the year I ruined Christmas.

If that guy in the video was part of a study, he should have been wearing a helmet.

If it wasn't for rumble strips I might not be here today. Apparently I dozed off on the highway and woke up on the rumble strip doing 85ish. I was WIDE awake the rest of the trip.

Used to work in rock hill and live in morganton. I've woken up a mile later on 321 at 2-3 a.m. more times than I want to think about. Now I just pull over.

damn, my wife just left for MD and this is the first thing I see on the board. Everyone pray for her safty leaving this early/late.

my older sister used to drive me around a lot and would occasionally "nod-off" and i would have to keep her awake...turns out she is narcoleptic ha...now i always drive when we are in the same car

I have done the same thing dozed off and realized I don't remember the last 5 or 10 minutes of driving. Several times I have hit the rumble strips asleep.

In Germany cruising around 100mph coming back from a long day at the races, I blinked.. apparently it was more than a blink, as I was in the next lane over. That sure as hell woke me up.

Now if I feel myself nodding off, I pull off, set the alarm on the cell phone for 25 minutes from that time, and crash for a quick nap... even if it's 5 miles from home. power nap works great for me.
