Well not much to add to the title.
Friends of mine has a donor set of TJ front fenders.

I have a CJ needing fenders.

Im wondering if anyone knows if it will bolt on and how "off" they would look.

repops ae cheap enough, but these are free. If they'd work I might try it.

Anyone got any "speriance" ?

never seen or heard of it but if you do it post pic's I'd like to see how it looks

not uncommon at all

It actually allows you to open up the rear fenderwell to fit the tires better.

as for bolting on, seems you just drill the holes and bolt it on as I recall.

Not talking about the flares.
I am talking actually bolting the whole front fenders onto a CJ.

Its a Jeep so Im not gonna try to off road it, I am just tryng to build a nice looking slightly lifted cruiser.

whoops, miss read that. my bad

I'm thinking you'd need the whole front clip inorder to match the length and the curve between the fender and the grill. The TJ grill is more of a straight line where the fender matches, where as the CJ is curved.

ive never seen it done,
I have seen a TJ hood & grill with YJ fenders, on a YJ/CJ done, as well as YJ hood/fenders with a TJ grill done on a YJ/CJ

IIRC i think the YJ & TJ hoods are 1-2" longer, and the cowl is shaped diff on a TJ too, but id think that they would bolt on... might just be a matter of drilling new holes and using nuts on the backside of the firewall....

I have TJ flares on my CJ fenders ....looks ok, helps the 36s fit with 4-5" of lift

he is wanting to put TJ fenders on a CJ... not just the flares

as someone said previously, the bolt holes are different i believe... never know til u try it... and post pics when u do

He knows you can swap the flares. Every other cj you see anymore has tj flares. Swapping the fenders is something completely different. As was said, why not try it? Although, I don't think it would look too good...

I fail to see how that's new. 95% of lifted jeeps never see anything more than a fire road... :flipoff2: Besides, who wants to wheel something that was built to spit parts out?

Well to bring this full circle, my buds TJ flares looked like chit.

So Im sticking with some Whitney CJ replacemnets

How did this end up being a thread about flares????
I agree with paradisePWoffrd when he said the hoods are longer on a wrangler. You would have to to a lot of cutting, or install a whole front clip.

My plan was to install the entire fenders to come up with a cheap, some what attractive looking solution.

The fact that he/or the PO had taken the tire to the flare and make them look like crap, kinda defeated the purpose of the swap.

Of course I could have tried to adapt the fenders then hunted up a set of TJ flares and replaced those and then seen if I liked the looks. But the more I looked at it, I would probably have ended up going with new sheet metal anyway, so why not just save the time/aggravation.

BTW thanks for all the replies
