I started smelling exhaust in the cab of my truck yesterday and found that my exhaust system is starting to rot apart after 223,000 miles. I'm looking for a recommendation on a new exhaust system. I am older now, and not interested in making noise. I would like the quietest system out there on the market. I don't want a loud droning exhaust sound while towing my rig a couple of hours to go wheeling.

Thanks,
Danny

Mbrp performance series - its cheap, it'll last 9-10 years - available with or without muffler.
Alot of folks liked the expandit what farmboys and others rebrand, but i can say after installing literally 100s the mbrp goes together better! The installer series mbrp offers a single peice tailpipe for a little more money.

If you need help deciding shoot me a pm!

I'll second FloPro if you are wanting a quieter while still free flowing exhaust. I know they are one of the few exhaust systems that doesn't drone on a 6.0 GM truck, and I have heard their diesel exhausts are pretty drone free as well.

Also, the 4" exhaust I mentioned above was a full turbo-back system. They also make a cheaper version (about $100 cheaper) out of aluminuzed steel.

It may be too loud for what you want, every engine is different, and the 5.9's are just loud anyways. The Flo-Pro exhaust with an extra resonator might be the ticket, I would only add the resonator after testing the exhaust though to see if it's too loud for you. On my 6.0 the main difference was the turbo is MUCH louder (which I like), and at about 70 mph it is kind of noisy, but really only when towing/pulling hills. When empty it is not loud at all. Towing a trailer to Asheville a few weeks ago it didn't bother my wife, dad, or 6 week old son.

I've got a 4" turbo back from Rip Rook -- just the aluminized pipe. Added a big (40"??) straight-through Donaldson. It works pretty well, but I still think it's too loud when I'm pushing it hard while towing. That said, I've been told by several other folks that it's quiet... so, it's relative.

I'd like to experiment with a resonator or a turn-down tip, but I'm lazy. Most of my noise is reflecting back off the front of the trailer.
