EXO CAGE TUBING

I'm looking to help a friend with a exo cage on his yota my ? is what size tubing should we use.This is my first cage so it is going to take awhile but would like to know what size would be strong and hold up. THANKS

same here you can mix it up with 1.75 120. on all main hoop and supporting cage then step down to 1 5/8 -1 1/2 around the rest of truck if you want to save a little on cost and weight. what are you bending it with? what are your die sizes?

DOM would be best for exo as it will take hits and hrew dents and crushes easier it may be cheaper but its not equal or worth it in the long run.

@novacayne75 my friend is buying the bender so i don't know what it is or die sizes.The sizes is what i was wanting to know so he could get the right die for the job. Thanks for the help guys.

i would do 1.75x.120 DOM or HREW. 1.5 isn't really rated for that weight per SCCA/NASA Tech, they show that 1.5 bends under more then 2,700lbs of impact weight

I know crawling is different then racing but I try to follow most of the guidelines I learned in racing so my stuff is built properly

Well don't start quoting whats good for auto racing. ARCA cars allow 1.5 x .095 wall DOM. I'd never use that on a crawler for rock bashing. Plus they have a ton more tube.

If you want to see whats good for our sport, look at the sanctioning bodies. Look at WERock, or KOH.

Tensile strength of DOM 1.5 is 46416 lbs, 1.75 up to 44688 lbs - 22% increase.

Circumference of 1.5 is ~4.71", 1.75 only ~5.5, that's only 16.6% more material (and weight). So you're gettin ga good difference for fairly minimal weight.

Say you add 200 lbs of tube, if it's all 1.75 thats only 32 lbs heavier.

Realistically, make all the main hoops from it, other 50% 1.5.
