Expanding URE Trails

the problem with drkelly's proposal is that it is against the rules, and that is what seems to get our community in more trouble than helping. I couldn't tell you how many times I've been to Brown before they re-groomed the main trail. I have thought about taking the jeep down the atv trails too, but wouldn't it suck to pass the guy that knows the dude that has pull somewhere to have it completly restricted from 4x4's?

The issue is that the ATVs and Motorcycles complain when your on there trails, And regardless of what you heard someone say, Without permission you shouldn't be advertising that your going on trails that are not posted for 4wds. These posts are fully searchable, So careful what you say, It could be fuel for TU or an ATV club to shut down 4wd use. Thats why talking about illegal use of trails is frowned on here.

Whatever happened to Justin's friend who had land I think in Ashe county?

I'll give him a ring.

Private land is the future as well as maintaining what the FS can't at URE.

I agree with you Lorenzo.

Private land is the future. Take Callalantee for an example, The level of trails there are much better than what is on the pubic land. We need more private areas to wheel. The issue is that land is not easy to find, Let alone some that has the terrain for trails.

I going out a limb here, But has anyone ever thought about talking to some of the private camp grounds in the mountain areas? Seems they have quite abit of land and would fit right in . I know that steele creek campground here host several hair scramble atv races, So the base for trails is there. Not sure how many or what type of trails, But I know some are there, I will asked the owner some questions about it. Hey you never know. If there willing to build it, I sure we would be willing to ride it.
