Had a nice trip planned to flounder gig Hatteras this weekend. Airboat packed up ready to rock, first trip w/ Dad in 9 years. And now this BS. Arggh:rolleyes:

Dude Ernesto is already past NC. What's the holdup? The day after a hurricane the weather is always FABULOUS.
We're heading to Lake Gaston as soon as I can scoot out today. WAS nervous about the drive, but not anymore.

Yeah it's not even raining here any more, and maybe only a little breeze every now and then...

hell, i stood out in the storm last night to see shinedown, rob zombie, and godsmack and im heading to the beach after work today...

It should be a good weekend down here. I think there will be scattered thunderstoms but its only like 30% chances. I was out in the hurricane down here at wilmington, it wasn't anything worth worrying about. Its completely gone now, and partly cloudy. Im headed to Ocean Isle tommorrow to go fishing, Sat, sun and mon its only supposed to be 2-3ft seas.

That's what I'm thinking. The water in the sound can be dirty after a big storm, and kill the sound fishing. I guess it would hurt the gigging if you can't see thru the water. :)

Dirty water or not it still beats working. I'm heading down to Shallotte as soon as my wife gets home. The boats hooked up the weather dont sound bad and the seas should be calm so if the Spanish are hungry it'll be a good weekend.

yeah with the sound full it will be dingy for 2-4 days. I have a buddy (40 years on HI) who lives on the sound in Hatteras said there is no way to gig for a few days at least.

I will be in Ashe Co scouting for the idiot stick opener next saturday.

Still need to get together to do some sticking. Deer season is upon us though. Canada in 6 weeks:bounce:

I really need a new job. I have had to work in the storm crap all week. Damn emergency generators, everyone wants to make sure they work when there is a storm coming, but not when it is nice out. I want a trip to the beach when the sun is shining and I can jump on a charter boat.

I hear your pain Down&Dirty, I own a landscape company so in the spring, summer, and fall when everyone is busy enjoying life, I'm hard at it and can't take hardly anytime off.
Usually from March till late June and then from September through Christmas, I'm pretty swamped. I'm still busy the other months too but I have some breathing room.

Damn, yall are all comin down to my neck of the woods this weekend.

That was a gay storm. For all the fuss it caused, we didn't even get classes cancelled, and no storm swell. Lame.

Went sailing this weekend, and I missed out on the good Earnesto wind Sat. AM. It was nice the whole time, and I'll bet you had a great time gigging.

Up at Lake Gaston, weather and wind was fabulous Saturday. Calmed a little in the afternoon. Sun was also nice, but not a hint of wind, didn't even bother unloading the sailboat. As dad says "Look at that flag on the pole. Wind must be so strong it's hugging it for dear life".

I was down east (keeping up with the coastal theme of the thread)... It was a little different there. Sat was a little quiet, but Sun and yesterday were good, if a touch weak for my tastes.

I was in Charleston all last week and weekend, the supposed "landing zone" of Ernesto. Whoever posted that fallen palm frawn was right on. Nothing but a slight breeze and some rain. I actually went out and walked on the beach during it out of boredom.

Seas were flat all weekend. Trolled the color break ( where the brown and blue came together ) and caught a couple dozen Spanish , one blue, and a small king
