So I go out to walk the dog this morning and the ground in front of my house is SOAKED. About a 8'x8' patch of ground is saturated and the rest is dry as a bone. Pull the cover off the water meter and it's spinning. Since it's on the house side of the meter, I know that there's no sense calling the water company, just wait till it warms up a bit and get the shovel.
I find the break in the line relatively quick and my neighbor comes out to let me know he just repaired his yesterday in almost the exact same distance between the meter and the house. I've seen crews out in the area recently repairing stuff, and he thinks that when they turned the water back on, they must not have feathered it and it just put all the pressure full on. Weakest link gave way and the stuff they used when they built these houses was the cheapest stuff out there.
On the bright side, this stuff is pretty cheap to repair, it's just a serious pain in the butt and a mess in the meantime.
I just needed to vent a little. My neighbor suggested calling the water company to complain, but I figure it will fall on deaf ears.
