Picked up an 84 F150 yesterday from a member on here, trying to salvage as many parts as possible, but he did say that if we can't use the suspension he would like it back for a friend. So wanting to see if I can save us both some time and figure this out before we start tearing everything apart. Ive heard of people running factory f150 coils to get a 2-3" lift on XJ's, but never really about anyone using lift coils.

Truck has a set of 6" lift coils, seem to be in good shape. The F150 had the TTB suspension, looks to be about the right size, and looks like they would be a pretty big lift on an XJ.

Anyone ever ran these? How well do they fit? Worth running em? Collecting parts for a LOW LOW budget ecors a class rig.

I'd think that they would be WAY too stiff considering the suspension design of the TTB.

my swap of stock 150 coils was stiffer than stock xj coils... you'd need LA's for those 6" lift coils for sure.. the stock coils were pushing it on my stock arms.. and stock shocks.

I know the TTB Suspension requires for a much stiffer spring than a normal straight axle f150 spring would be, and I know the SA spring is already stiff for an XJ, stiff I can live with, I think stiff springs might work pretty well with taking the abuse of ECORs.

But function is important too, and if the springs don't want to flex well, that will defeat the purpose.

Yeah the F150 coils are way stiff. Don't know about racing but they are good if you want the looks of a lift and don't want it to flex off road. Again I mean rock crawling. If you want to race you should be much more scientific in regards to coil selection.

ECORS is a little but of everything, so a stiff spring would be great IMO, as long as not so stiff they wont flex at all. Figure we are adding weight to the front anyway. gonna strip the hell out of the rear so it should be fine.

just grab some crown vic coils
