ok. pulled in a parts truck i picked up. Po rolled it twice in his backyard after purchasing it..."" .truck runs like a top but looks like :poop: tried loading it on trailer and all i get when putting it in D is a roar/grinding noise. So out came the winch and to the shop she went. rolled off the tailer and put it on jackstands. didnt have time to pull cover and etc before dark. heres what i know, driveshafts spins but truck does not move or even buck or try to move. Just the grinding nosie. So am i looking at a broken pinion/ring gear or is the axle shaft snaped? im guessing the roll poped the rear shaft on driver side....thats where the noise sounds mostly in the area....Will find out tomorrow when i pull the cover but just thinking on it tonight and figured id listen to what i most likley will be having to do tomorrow...thanks

what model is the truck? is the rear a 9"? 8.8? or is it a full floater?

well ring and pinion look brand new so...time to pull a shaft. By the way got a new question for the axle/gear/8.8 guys

axle has a almost upside Z piece of metal inbetween the spides gears....whats going on here? any info. Not a axle internal guy but im not stupid. Never seen one and cant figure it out. Is it some kind of spool? lsd?
