my 03 7.3 is having problems, it just started about a month ago and just have not driven it since then. What its doing is once it comes up to operating temperature it almost acts like it has a really high stall torque converter in it, just engages hard instead of smooth. It pretty much feels like it has a dead spot in it until in actually engages and then will go. Once you get it going it does fine but something just isn't right. I've had one shop tell me he thought it was the solenoids but he couldn't be sure on it. Just trying to figure out what it could be. It just gets me that until it is at operating temp it doesn't have a problem at all. If anyone has had any problems similar to this id like to hear what you ended up finding as the cause.

Have you checked fluid level? Last time it was changed? Have you added a bigger cooler or is it still stock?

The fluid is good, I have not changed the guild but this transmission only has about 35,000 miles since the rebuild. The trans cooler is still stock right now, almost just thigh about putting a bigger one on to see what it would do

Fuel pressure has a lot to do with the transmission pressure controls on these trucks, believe it or not. So it's entirely within the realm of possibility that you could be chasing a phantom transmission issue. Don't be afraid to check fuel pressure too :huggy: A guy at work went through a similar issue.
