I am in the process of building up a roller to swap my 1977 F150 2wd sc onto 1979 F250 4x4 sc frame. I have a dana 60 rear and 44hp front. What I need is info. on driveshafts. Do i need to run the carrier bearing on the rear or can I one piece it? Any ideas, info. and pictures would be a big help. Also if anybody knows how, much lift is needed to the military 37x12.50x16.5 hummer tires. Thanks, Jeremy

Can't help on the dshaft, but all you'll need is 4" to fit the 37's comfortably, you can fit 35's stock...on a 250 chassis that is.

Thanks for the info guys. I just edited the post because I did not put what years I was dealing with. Would like to pictures of the trucks you are both talking about. I am trying to peice toghter the parts for the saddle tank now. So far I have not found a tank listed anywhere for a super cab of any type. What a fun project this is going to be!!!

Your rear drive shaft will become a one piece due to tcase lengthening the driveline. All 4x4's in that year are pretty much the same - easy search for pics. As stated, 35's fit no lift. 37's with 2" lift.

Good luck!

Thanks for the info. folks. Now I need to figure out the saddle tank. Jeremy

Hop on FTF and ask, since you're a member over there. I can't help you with this particular question, but we've got guys over there that restore these things for a living and/or been with Ford since the 60's. Someone there would surely know the answer.
