I bought a F250 at a auction that was said to have the motor locked up. Then when loading it the mechanic that looked it over said he thought it was the trans not the motor.....

-Turn the key and it just goes CLICK

- Droped the starter and it jumps out and spins good and fast

- When turning the key on and trying to start it the truck clicks only but you can see the fan move a little forward each time...So im thinking the motor may not be locked up...

Could this be a Converter problem holding everything up?

truck is a 2000 f250 5.4L auto 4x4 if that matters.

I would pull the plugs and see what it does then. Could be an injector stuck open and filled the chamber full of gas and basically hydrolocked it. Also if it turns over with the plugs out and oil/coolant/gas or whatever comes out of the spark plug hole you know what hole to start looking at.

Did you try this?

... or pull a chunk out of the head when they come.

Plugs on the 2valve 5.4litre isnt that bad i do mine every 15,000 miles just so i wont have a problem with them freezing into the head usually only takes about and hour it looks worse than it is.
