The spare tire on the Jeep was mounted to a modified stock tire carrier.
(Yes my CJ has a YJ tub)

The 33" tire was too much weight and was stressing the tailgate and kept breaking the stock mount.

Yesterday at work I made my own swing out tire carrier that is mounted to the bumper, and not the tailgate..

It works great, and as a side bonus, it's a LOT quieter driving it now..
The old mount kept poping on some bumps from the broken metal on the stock mount, but I didn't realize how much other noise was caused by the tire on the tailgate..

The only thing you hear now is exhaust and tires :D

Looks awesome... Wish i could fab stuff like that.. Did you do the YJ to CJ conversion yourself?? if so, how hard was it?

bbradley here on the forums did the conversion before I got it.
from everything I've read about the sway, it don't seem that bad at all to do.
