Wife and I are off the week of Halloween this year and wanted to do something with our 1 year old. Sort of started a tradition last year of going to Old Salem, which we will do again, but also would like to go somewhere else that would be fun for her and us that is fall/Halloween related.

Looking for somewhere that is within an hour drive of High Point/Greensboro. Fall is the wife and I's favorite season, so something with views/scenery would be a plus.

Our kids enjoyed the corn mazes and as they got older haunted trails. Obviously picking pumpkins at a pumpkin patch and not the local grocery or Lowes

Yeah pumpkin patch is on the list as well. Just want to do some fun stuff with our little one. Thought about going to Linville Caverns, just don't know if she would really understand it at 17 months old.

It'll be a few years before any scenery stuff really excites them. My 3 year old just needs a train to come through town for it to be his best day ever!

Take them to a church or community fall festival. If you have a small town downtown trick or treat, take them there. They'll love getting dressed up and seeing other kids in costume. Other than that, plan things you and your wife want to do but the kid can come along.

^^^ At that age they will most likely not have any memories. My son's 1st birthday was a great gathering of friends and family, not crazy but there were plenty of adult beverages.

I'm not really a fan of this time of year myself, but we've been trying to take our girl hiking more and more...at the very least walking trails. Highlights for her are the animals, birds and squirrels mostly...some times cool insects/spiders/snakes, but she loves seeing all of them. When we're up at the mountain house we see more exotic stuff like black bear and deer, and she loses her mind...but we've seen that stuff at Morrow Mountain too. Beyond that, we're planning on hitting up a couple different community trunk or treats this year.

Yeah, I know she probably won't remember any of this stuff, but I'd like to get some traditions started, so my wife and I can have that memory.

We’ve gone to Kersey Valley a few times. Kids enjoy it. Corn maze is cool, but sucked pushing a twin stroller through it. Now they have a kid’s maze that is probably a 1/2 acre iirc.
