So I've got 2 skis I've been working on, and I'll have them ready for this weekend. I know that Memorial day weekend is gonna be hell at Falls lake BUT....

My Mom lives about a 200 foot hike through the woods from falls lake, outside one of the lower outlets that has the six forks boat ramp. I'm thinking about putting them in the water Friday, beaching them in the mud through the woods from Moms and locking them up with a cable/chain, and pulling them out of the water on Monday.

You guys think a Ranger would give me shit for this? I'm thinking I could leave a note on them for him to call me if its an issue. Plus this way I can roll my truck out of the launch area to make room for others.

Thoughts?

I think you can leave them tied up in the water but dont think you can beach them beacuse its park land unless its at the camp ground

Yeah thats the way I see it. I think I'm just gonna do it. If I put a note on the seat with my name and phone number I'm sure a cop would call me to mave them before he took em or whatever. But technically I think your right and it should be legal.

So lets say you leave them in the water, anchored down so they don't go anywhere... And leave a note that says "Gone swimming."
How is that any different from guys who take a pontoon boat out and anchor it in the lake while they take a swim?

You are allowed to camp over night on your boat at falls so as long as your anchored yo u should be fine not sure I would trust the people who frequented that area enough to leave a ski out there

^^^^^^^^^ WRONG You cannot anchor overnight offshore on any inland body of water in N.C. w/o anchor or navigation lights on ALL NIGHT LONG. I assume most PWCs don't have them. You could take your chances dragging them in the woods and trying to hide them from sight from the lake and prying eyes. I imagine the LEOs are gonna be too busy w the drunken idiot boaters to go looking for PWCs illegally parked out of sight on the Game Lands. I'd be worried about somebody else finding them and wanting them more than you do, or taking them for a joyride if they can unhitch them from your locks/cables. If you leave them in the water/shore I would expect trouble.

Yeah I think the concensus is I could -probably- get away with it, especially being a holiday weekend, for one night. I'm gonna go ahead and drop them in Sat am and try to pull them out and hit the road early afternoon. If that ramp is way too backed up then I'll ditch em in the woods and see what happens. I'll let ya'll know how it goes

have you seen Falls Lake since Thursday ? all the public boat ramps are underwater, by several feet. I'd imagine parking will be even more of a premium than usual as half the lots are under as well.

The ramp off Creedmore Rd all the docks are submerged, the floating dock is a a small island

^^ lol.
well then sound to me like you're back to this option:

Just carry them from your mom's house. It's only 200ft after all. Man up.

:D

Actually yeah I stopped by the six forks launch yesterday and it looked same as always, which surprised me.....Tide must've been up and the creedmoore ramp huh?
