Fan Clutch

My fan clutch on my 84 suburban is bad,I have one from a 91 suburban but it has the serpintine belt so fan turns opposite. Does that mean the clutch is different or just the fan blades?

I imagine the clutch is just a means to lock up the fan so it shouldnt matter what direction it turns, only the fan blades.
