What is your favorite all season tire? Something that is perfect for rain and snow (asheville), is great to take offroad in the dirt and rocks, but is generous with getting you close to 40k miles in wear...

(mentality > more street than 4x4

I've been running the Toyo extreme A/T for over 3 years and 30k miles with great wear and all around traction. They carry a 55k mile warranty and looks like they will make that. I've decided that when they are shot I'm getting a new truck as the one I have will be 12 next week.

I've been thinking about something similar. My KMs may make it to next spring, and I'm thinking about KO2s; but I'm not sure how well they do in typical NC vehicle-sucking mud...

I can't say about off road, but I do really like the Cooper Discoverys for rain, snow. Cost is reasonable. For me, on my Suburban, they have done great! Good siping and great wear, even on my heavy truck. Need a set now LOL just can't afford them.

Best all around tire I ever had was the BFG AT/KO. Don't know a thing about the new ones, but the old ones were an awesome all around tire, just don't do sloppy mud.

We've got Dick Cepek Trail Country's on the wife's 4runner and they have been fantastic. I had a set of Dick Cepek FC-II's on an old truck of mine and they were really good too. But it sounds like you're looking for something more aggressive, and I don't think either are well suited for rocks/mud.

Looking up reviews, the best ones i have found are:

Anyone with experience with these? I do like aggressive looks and searching for 36ish size tires.

Currently rolling on the first two...Bronco has 36x14.5 TSL Radials, 350 has 35x14.5 SSR's. I've run the 37" ssr's and 12.5" TSL radials too. TSL Radials, I've never bought a new set, but usually get them at 60-75% tread and have no issues getting another 25k out of them. Given it is a light-ish vehicle. I play on the property when it floods and they do pretty well. SSR's, as I said earlier, I use as my highway tire...have bought several sets...always get 35-40k out of them. Towing, hauling, general tom foolery...and a very large/heavy truck. Won't get stuck on a two track or wet grass, but a little tight to clear any real mud...seem to do a good job in rain and snow.

Looking to put them on my build. Streetable, great to get around town when "snowed" in. Great to go down to Charleston and enjoy. Great to hop off the interstate and go do some trails a couple times a year. More street than trail. But aggressive looking.

Would you vote TSL or SSR/TSL?

Ive heard good things of the ko2s and kevlars....

If you're looking for more street use...I'd go SSR. KO2's...had a set on the 96 crew, got about the same mileage out of them...better on road manners, but didn't have near the traction in slick clay. Never had a set of the kevlars.

For a streetable swamper, the trxus m/ts are great. Lots of siping for wet/icey conditions, not loud, great off road as well.

Bfg's hands down my favorite all terrain. Stupid grip on powder snow. Very little road noise. Good traction in the rain. Wear very evenly. Not extremely heavy balance well and get good service life on the vehicles I put them on. Lately I have bought used or had to buy based on price. But if I can afford a new set when my tires wear out on my tow pig I'll go back to them.

You will love everything about them besides the mileage. I'm probably only going to get 30K out of mine whereas my old KO's I got close to 60K out of them.

That sucks.. Compound change? Needed to sell more. Greedy fawkers.

Nitto Terra Grapplers and the original KO2's do great in the snow. All got good mileage out of them.

I recently switched to the Toyo RT just to give it a shot and like them so far, just no snow experience yet.

Bang for the buck, Cooper makes a great tire. Just about any of the AT models will do the job.

Guys y'all may laugh at me here. My last DD weekend ditch jumper l put Michelin LTX M/S on it. I loved them, quiet, great mileage and actually did very well in snow and all the mud l was willing to hit and still have to drive it to work the following days. They have changed to the LTX M/S 2 now, 70k mileage rating on them. I fully intend to put these on my Colorado DD as soon as these crappy, choppy discoverers are fully worn out. While they may be slightly cost prohibitive I feel they are worth it.

Nobodies laughing at 70k rating unless it's BS or they are an idiot. Are they straight treads in disguise?

I've always run BFG all terrains. No idea of mileage though. I drive very little so my shit rots before it wears out.

To add to this, I had a set of yokohama geolander a/t tires that did pretty well. No idea on actual mileage due to bad speedometer/odometer, but I would have them again if the BFG was more expensive. The yokohama did great in the mountains around Sylva, Waynesville, and Asheville. Great highway noise level, held in the twistys, only slipped on pure ice, but mostly due to over sized tire on a light explorer with a limited slip rear.

I've had 3 or 4 vehicles I've put bfg a/t's on over the years, never been disappointed in their performance on road, dirt, sand, wet, or snow. A mud tire they are not, but everything else they have always been great.

Yes they are softer than the old KO's. They are kill the old KO's in every category but longevity in my experience. It may just be my Ram but I've heard others with diesel trucks say the same thing.
